• Comprehensive literature review including scholarly literature (from a range of disciplines including law, peace and conflict studies, transitional justice, criminology and political science), policy documents, press releases and newspaper articles.
  • Development of a theoretically informed research instrument corresponding with the project themes.
  • Selection of a range of interviewees including members of victims’ organisations, those with knowledge and experience of relevant debates, those directly involved in delivery services for victims, and those involved in local debates on dealing with the past. 
  • Conduct approximately 50 in-depth, semi-structured interviews. 
  • Use NVivo software to code and analyse interview data to facilitate exploration of the project themes.
  • At all times adhere to the ethical guidelines laid down by QUB and as set out in the project’s ethics proposal.
